Our general dental services include:
Dental Exams & Teeth Cleaning
It is important to have regular dental exams and teeth cleanings in order to maintain good oral and dental health. Routine exams are important for patients of every age. During your appointment, we will remove any plaque or tartar buildup from your teeth. This aids in cavity protection. In addition, we will check for any signs of gum disease, oral cancer, or other irregularities. The visit concludes with flossing and polishing your teeth.
For patients missing most or all of their teeth, dentures provide a great restorative option. If you retain some of your natural teeth, partial dentures may be recommended. Both dentures and partials are designed to look like your natural teeth and enhance your smile. A full set of dentures may even give you a better smile than you had before! We will work with you to determine which restoration option best fits your dental health needs.
Gum Disease Treatment
It is important to keep your gums in good health, as they provide the foundation for your teeth. Unhealthy gums can cause greater problems for not only your oral health, but your overall health. During your routine exams, we will examine your gums. To help keep your gums healthy, we will clean the pockets along the gum line. This helps prevent gum disease and gingivitis. If you are exhibiting signs of gum disease, we will discuss the available treatment options with you. Our goal is to restore your oral health.
If a cavity has reached the pulp of a tooth, it is necessary to complete a root canal or endodontic therapy. Dr. Charles Hicks has completed extensive continuing education courses on this procedure to ensure you receive the best care. During this procedure, the interior of your tooth will be cleaned out and disinfected. The infected pulp will be removed and the canals of the roots will be sealed to prevent future bacterial invasion. At the end of the procedure, your tooth will be restored with a crown or filling, which provides added strength and stability. This restores the tooth to normal function.
This type of dentistry is dedicated to restoring an individual’s teeth to it original shape, size, and function. Our practice utilizes a range of restoration options to ensure you can regain your oral health. From replacing missing teeth through dental implant surgery to restoring teeth with dental crowns, our goal is to prevent future complications or decay. Extracting permanent teeth that are significantly damaged can, in some cases, help return you to optimal health. We will discuss the various treatment options with you, and if we decide on an extraction, we will determine the best way to replace the tooth. This helps prevent problems with surrounding teeth.
Hicks Dental is only dental practice in Putnam County with 3D imaging equipment. 3D imaging provides us with a more comprehensive look at the mouth and jaw, which helps us identify issues and create individualized treatments plans. This type of imaging allows us to view bone structure, bone dentistry, tissues, and nerves more clearly. A 3D scan can be completed in less than half a minute, and exposes you to far less radiation than a traditional x-ray. These scans are mainly used as an aid in planning dental implant treatments and other oral surgeries.
